Welcome to Top Tips Tuesday, each Tuesday we will bring you a short and sweet blog post with...well...Top Tips. Think who, what and wear in sustainable fashion. If you're looking to grow your knowledge this will be the post to look out for each week.
This week we have listed out our favourite podcasts, from sustainable fashion, creative entrepreneurs to how to slow down your lifestyle. Whilst working each day, we listen to podcasts, I know, most people listen to Spotify but as a small business we get our creative juices flowing by listening to inspiring stories.
So, who do we listen to:
1. Conscious Chatter
Probably our favourite fashion podcast of all time. The lovely host Kestrel Jenkins interviews inspiring and innovative people and brands each doing amazing things in the sustainable fashion space. She refers to them as Game Changers. Kestrel has interviewed some prreeeeetty big names from Safia Minney of People Tree & Slave to Fashion, Andrew Morgan from fabulous The True Cost Documentary, Orsola de Castro Fashion Revolution Founder to brands such as Eileen Fischer and Patagonia.
WOW! So much knowledge to be passed on!
2. The Minimalists
Joshua Fields Millburn & Ryan Nicodemus are officially know as The Minimalists, and are the stars behind the feature documentary "Minimalism". Josh and Ryan have travelled the United States sharing their minimalist journey. "Minimalists don’t focus on having less, less, less; rather, we focus on making room for more: more time, more passion, more experiences, more growth, more contribution, more contentment. More freedom. Clearing the clutter from life’s path helps us make that room."
These guys like to keep themselves busy, with their tour, documentary, books and believe it or not a podcast which already has 78 amazing episodes. Do they sleep you must be thinking - well maybe, just maybe, they have more time to focus on what they care about because they have removed the excess "stuff" from their lives.
3. Slow Your Home
The hugely inspiring a female mum boss Brook McAlary is the genius behind the podcast and book "Slow your home". After being diagnosed with severe post natal depression in 2011, Brook embarked on a one-woman mission to cut out the excess in her life and reconnect with what was really important. Learning about minimalism and simplicity, she immersed herself in the Slow Living philosophy and discovered the beautiful benefits of living with less.
Now she produces and hosts The Slow Home Podcast, an iTunes #1 Health Podcast designed to help spread the idea of a slower pace of life to an even wider audience. You can also join her on "A Simple Year" a step by step, month to month guide on how you can live more simply.
4. WOWEE!
Honest discussions with creative peeps.
Wowee! is a Melbourne based podcast that hopes to bring together creative communities and promote the sharing of ideas, skills and experiences in a supportive space.
In each episode, hosts Penny and Esther grab their conversation shovels and dig it deep with a variety of different local designers, artists and musicians. You'll get to know the person behind the talent - their inspirations, work process and day-to-day life, while touching on their family history, personal struggles and life philosophies. More than just a podcast, Wowee! aims to inspire, encourage and bolster creativity in all its forms.
5. Spirit of 608
Do you run a sustainable fashion blog or business? Then this is the podcast for you. Host Lorraine Sanders is the ultimate sustainable fashion business girl boss.
